About Kell Troff
THERAPIST INTERN
Kell (Makael) Troff
MFTi
(She/Her/Hers)
I’m a therapist because I believe our wounds happen in relationships—so healing, too, must happen in relationships, including the one we build together in therapy.
I hold a deep belief in the inherent goodness of every person. I see therapy as a space where we can rewrite the harmful stories we’ve been told, learn to accept what is, and reconnect with our authentic, empowered selves. I can’t imagine doing any other work. The world has so much healing ahead, and I’m honored to play a small role in that healing in my corner of it.
I wear my heart on my sleeve and take a casual, connected approach in the therapy room. I’m here to collaborate with you, earn your trust, and help you move toward the growth and healing you’re seeking.
My Specialties and Approach
I work with adult individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of experiences, including: mixed-faith relationships and faith transitions, LGBTQIA+ experiences, anxiety, depression, postpartum mental health, parenting, and relationship difficulties.
I welcome conversations around all aspects of sexuality—including desire, identity, intimacy, and pornography. These are tender, deeply human experiences, and I hold space for them with compassion and openness. I am part of the LGBTQIA+ community and would be honored to help you explore that part of yourself.
My approach is grounded in Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Bowenian theory, the Satir model, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
I believe therapy is inherently political and can be a place to challenge systems that have caused harm—including racism, patriarchy, and diet culture—and move toward authenticity, self-compassion, and liberation for all. I aim to create a space where you feel seen, safe, and empowered.
My Education and Experience
I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Utah Valley University and provide therapy under clinical supervision. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families.
Outside of therapy, I’m a true homebody. You’ll often find me sipping tea on the front porch with a good book (usually about therapy!), playing video games, getting crafty, or practicing body-positive movement like yoga. When I venture out, I’m likely at a local play, concert, or trying a new restaurant.
