About Aislinn Burke

THERAPIST & FOUNDER

Aislinn Kelly Burke
LMFT, CEDS-S
(She/Her/Hers)

This therapy thing may be new to you, or perhaps you’ve done it before and need a fresh start. So why pick me? And how the heck do you say my name? If you know much about the Gaelic language (most don’t!) it’s pronounced Ashlyn. I’m from Canada, so who knows why I was blessed with a cool Irish name… but let’s get back to why you’re reading this page.

My Specialties and Approach

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with teenagers and adults with various struggles including depression, anxiety, self-harm and eating disorders.  I’ve moved toward specializing in eating disorders and women’s issues, smashing diet culture, developing body neutrality and self-acceptance. I love working with anyone who is discovering their own life path, that wants to stop listening to cultural pressures of who they “should be.”

I infuse humour into sessions, while also making sure my clients have the skills they’re looking for to make needed changes. With over 18 years of therapy experience, I’m open to discussing just about anything you bring to the table. I welcome all diverse backgrounds, religions and am an LGBT+ ally.

My Education and Experience

So now for the education bit. I graduated in 2004 with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University. I worked for eight years in a residential treatment center for at-risk youth with a variety of emotional and behavioral difficulties. I then switched gears to work at an inpatient eating disorder center before launching my own private practice. I earned the distinction as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor(CEDS-S) through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) in 2017.

I am an Approved Supervisor for Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (LAMFT) in the state of Utah.  I have extensive experience in supervising beginning therapists.

I love the work that I do, and the people that have shared their most private moments with me. It is a privilege to be part of someone’s journey of healing.
